"Fast fashion's Influence: On The Longevity of Textile Fabrics."

While fast fashion remains a huge part of the Textile's industry, sustainability efforts have gained traction to advocate for more conscious consumption practices like thrifting and focusing on the quality of clothes over quantity.

Just because something has a nice label on it, like a designer label, doesn’t always mean it’s constructed with great quality, The key is to look at the basics: fabric, tags, sewing, and details.

Here are some common indicators:

1.Clothes made from thin or flimsy fabric are more likely to wear out quickly, tear easily, or lose their shape after a few washes. Look for garments with a substantial weight and density to ensure durability.

2.Loose yarn or unfinished seams can be a sign of poor construction and may unravel over time, leading to holes or tears in the fabric. Check for securely stitched seams and neatly trimmed threads to ensure better quality.

3.Weak or uneven stitching can weaken the structure of the garment and cause seams to come apart with regular wear. Look for garments with tight, even stitching and reinforced seams for added durability.

4.Clothes with cheap or flimsy hardware, such as zippers, buttons, or clasps, are more prone to breakage or malfunction. Check for sturdy hardware that operates smoothly and securely fastens the garment.

5.Clothes with poorly dyed or printed fabrics may fade quickly after washing or exposure to sunlight, resulting in a dull or uneven appearance. Look for garments with vibrant, colorfast fabrics that are less likely to fade over time.

6.Pilling occurs when short fibers on the fabric's surface become tangled and form small balls or pills. Clothes made from low-quality fabrics or blends are more prone to pilling, which can make them look worn out and shabby. Choose garments made from high-quality materials that are less likely to pill with regular wear and washing.

7.Clothes that stretch out of shape or lose their elasticity quickly may not provide a flattering fit or maintain their original silhouette over time. Look for garments with good recovery and elasticity, especially in areas prone to stretching, such as waistbands or cuffs.

8.Clothes that do not come with proper care instructions or are labeled as "dry clean only" may require special care and maintenance, making them less practical for everyday wear. Opt for garments that are easy to care for and can withstand regular washing and wear.

Learning the red flags for each of these indicators will help you make more informed decisions and choose clothes that will last longer in your wardrobe, no matter your budget.
