Forgotten Silk Merchants of Bangalore City - Part 04

Bengaluru's shopping complex Unity building on JC Road is known for two Silk and Sarees Shops Janardhana Silk House, and 'Sri Ranganatha Silk and Sarees' fabric store since 1971 with classic and contemporary silk saris along with high-quality textiles was established by Late Mysore H Rangadasappa and sons with a motto "WEAVERS TO WEARERS."

            Late Mysore H Rangadasappa

Innovations are a necessity in Textiles the credit of reversible sarees is attributing to late M H Rangadasappa who established Rukmangada Silk Throwing factory in 1960 Siddanna lane (Cubbonpet) Bengaluru.

Late M H Rangadasappa built Sri Lakshmi Ranganatha Swamy Temple which comprises of a Choultry in Rathanasandra Village, Sira, Tumkur Dist in 1955.

Inspire by the teachings of Buddha he contributed for the construction of a room in remembrance of his late father Mysore Haumanthappa at Maha Bodhi Society, Kavi Kalidasa Road, Gandhi Nagar, Bengaluru.

According to late M H Rangadasappa, Textiles and Handloom are our legacy and representing the brand name of Mysore Silks, and the consumer, the weaver and the weaves are critical links in sustaining this legacy.

His business model was focused on making the an environment favorable to sustain the legacy by replicating the older version of supply chain via use of technology, and believe that weavers closer to the wearers.

Late M H Rangadasappa, adopted strict quality control guidelines to ensure that customers get best quality of silk fabrics while ensuring quality checks depending on product category before its presented to customers.

Unfortunately on the demise of late M H Rangadasappa in 1989 diminished the brand name of Sri Ranganatha Silk and Sarees while his sons diversified into other businesses.

We would hope that his descendants would    recreate his achievements as silk merchant.

"Innovation is taking two things that exist and putting them together in a new way."
