Sri Lakshmi GaviRanganathaSwamy

Sri Lakshmi Gaviranganathaswamy Temple at Gavirangapura- Hosdurga Karnataka, is a unique temple in India and his devotees are fortunate to be blessed by Sri Gaviranga Swamy.

The origin of the temple is lost in antiquity, but it is said to be in existence for the past 500 years. It is said that devotees from various parts of old Mysore used to undertake pilgrimage once in few years for lack of transportation and facilities in the temple.

It's said that devotees from Bangalore would take the railway to Banasandra which is near Turuvekere and from there bullock carts to Srirampura - Budhal.

Seniors may recall there was no road from Budhal, but the still the urge to service and see Sri Gaviranga Swamy endured the last few kilometers with a smile on their face subsequently devotees impressed Government of Karnataka to lay the present road between Gavirangapura and Srirampura.

Friends of my generation will recall Gavirangapura lacking electricity and running water this too was subsequently provided in the early 1970s. Soon KSRTC commenced direct bus services from Bangalore.
With the all the above facilities in place, enabled more and more devotees to come with their family and friends to Sri Lakshmi Gaviranganathaswamy Temple.

Drinking water shortages was causing inconvenience that led to the creation of Sri Lakshmi Gaviranganathaswamy Temple Water Supply Committee, it's members mobilized devotees and funds to drill borewells and providing facilities.

One issue was to be resolved, the congestion of priests and people in main temple,the devotees under the auspices of Sri Lakshmi Gaviranganatha Swamy,Temple Water Supply Committee Bangalore and Gavirangapura, decided to renovate and expand the temple of Sri Lakshmi Gaviranganathaswamy after consulting with the government and various stakeholders of the temple.

On 13-02-1981 foundation stone of renovating the present temple of Sri Lakshmi Gaviranganatha swamy was laid.
